Safety Center

Book with confidence, not with fear.

Most wedding vendor problems in Ghana follow the same patterns. Here are the rules that protect couples — and the protections WedWise is rolling out.

Five rules every couple should follow

1

Get every quote in writing

No matter how trusted the vendor — a written, itemised scope is your only protection if anything changes.

2

Never pay 100% upfront

A 30–50% deposit is normal in Ghana. Anything more, ask why and read the refund terms first.

3

Verify the portfolio is theirs

Ask for a recent client’s phone number to confirm. Stolen Pinterest portfolios are common.

4

Confirm cancellation terms

What happens if the date moves? If the vendor is sick? If you cancel? Get it in writing.

5

Don’t pay outside WedWise

Once protected booking is live, paying outside removes your safety net. Until then, follow rules 1–4 strictly.

Classic Ghana wedding vendor red flags

Pressure to pay quickly to “hold the date.”
No written agreement, only WhatsApp voice notes.
Price changes after deposit is paid.
Refuses to share past client references.
No business name, no address, no receipts.
Asks for payment to a personal MoMo of someone else.
Portfolio photos with no recent dates or context.
“Special abroad price” that’s 30%+ above local rate.
